Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) , JCI Accredited

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), established in 1844, is the second largest acute care general hospital in Singapore, with specialty centres in Rehabilitation Medicine and Communicable Diseases.
Named after its founder, Mr Tan Tock Seng, a Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist. The hospital is a member of the National Healthcare Group and continues to provide high quality holistic healthc are services to the people of Singapore. After three major moves in its long and distinguished history, the hospital now provides most of its services in one modern complex, comprising the Hospital Block, the TTSH Medical Centre and the Podium Block. Our 1,200-bed hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and medical equipment, as well as the latest communication and information technology tools.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital champions the development of Geriatric Medicine, Infectious Disease Management, Rehabilitation Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology , Allergy & Immunology in Singapore.
We are also a major referral centre for Geriatric Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, Gastroenterology, Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) and Orthopaedic Surgery.

  • Green Mark Award TTSH is the first hospital to clinch the Platinum Award in the 2006 Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark certification. The Green Mark Certification was developed by the BCA and supported by the National Environment Agency (NEA). It assesses buildings on their Energy and Water Conservation, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Environmental Protection, Waste Minimisation and Building Management and Operation.
  • Sporting Singapore Inspiration Awards (SSIA) The Sporting Singapore Inspiration Awards (SSIA), which inaugurated in 2003, is organised by the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) to honour individuals and organisations for their exemplary contribution towards sports promotion in Singapore, and for demonstrating passion and commitment in nurturing a sports culture. Award winners are seen as community role models who inspire and motivate others to achieve greater heights in sports.   • Singapore Health Award The Singapore H.E.A.L.T.H. (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health). TTSH received the Platinum Singapore HEALTH Award from the Health Promotion Board in October 2004. The Platinum Award was presented to TTSH for having achieved the Gold Award standard for three consecutive years.
  • Certified On-the-Job Training Centre (COJTC) The Certified On-the-Job Training Centre (COJTC) Scheme was launched by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Apr 1994 to recognise OJT conducted by employers.

    • First local hospital to hold ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications simultaneously.
    • Singapore's first civilian Hyperbaric Medicine Centre opens in TTSH.
    • A work-related Musculosketal Disorders Clinic is set up. In conjunction with the Ministry of Manpower.
    • TTSH acquires the first local Virtual Endoscopy Trainer to be used in skills training.
  • 2001
    • TTSH is marked as a historic institution on 25 July by the National Heritage Board.
    • TTSH receives the People Developer Standard.
    • TTSH doctors perform the first cases of mascular translocation in southeast Asia.
    • TTSH doctors perform the first ever fitbone surgery in Asia.
    • A Non-invasive Ventilation Unit opens.
    • The clinical Immunology Laboratory and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicines's Laboratories accredited by the commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists.
  • 2000
    • The new TTSH is officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister BG(NS) Lee Hsien Loong on 1 April
    • The island-wide glaucoma screening project is launched jointly with the Lion's Club.
    • TTSH becomes a member of the National Healthcare Group (NHG).
  • 1999
    • TTSH is fully operational in its fourth site on 4 May

    • First hospital in the region to open an Erectile Dysfunction Clinic.
    • First hospital in Asia to use DBC (Documentation Back Care) Machines for back care.
    • Department of Respiratory Medicine introduces the Singapore Tuberculosis Elimination Programme nationwide.

    • The Patient Education Centre at the Communicate Disease Centrre opens.
    • First hospital in the region to perform radical perineal prostatectomy and laparoscopic transgatric resection of submucosal tumours of the stomach.
    • First hospital in singapore to offer stereotatic MRI guided thalamotomy for patients with Parkinsons's disease.
